Sleeping Bear Dunes

Purse: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Sleeping Bear Dunes consists of several amazingly huge sand dunes.  It's in the northern part of the lower portion of Michigan.  Having been there before, I knew what to expect.  However, I did forget just how huge these dunes are.  Some of the dunes are over 400ft. tall.  There were about 1-2 foot waves the day I went, so if you look down by the shoreline, you can tell just how tall the hills are.  The water is extremely blue and very clear.  This was also one of my favorite sunsets of the summer.
I wore this outfit on the second day of the trip.  I got these shorts recently and am in love with the scallops.  Since they are black, you can wear them with loads of tops.  All summer I had been looking for the perfect pair of scalloped shorts.  I decided to wear a plain white t-shirt with them, to dress them down.  I can't remember where my hat came from, sorry.  Although, I must say it is on of the only hats that my small head can wear.

Bracelet: souvenir from Mackinac Island a few years ago

Last weekend was spent road-tripping with my boyfriend to Michigan.  Manistee (here) was one of our stops.  Manistee has an adorable old downtown, that I wish I had pictures of, but I don't.  There are tons of little shops and restaurants like many other towns along the lake in Michigan.  They also have a lighthouse.  Although, it's not my favorite Michigan lighthouse, it still got my attention.
This was the third outfit I wore on the trip.  It's incredibly light and great for all things beach related.  The shorts are from Zara.  I love the pleated details on the sides.  They look really cool when the wind blows.  They match perfectly with this top I got from Forever 21 in NYC.  Something I have to say about the top is that it has the absolute perfect cut.  I bought this bracelet a few years ago when I went to Michigan with my family.  I thought the nautical theme would be appropriate to wear here.

Last week was a special week.  I took off of work Wednesday and went to Great America, with my family.  I decided to do a blog post about it because after walking around the park, I noticed almost everyone there was wearing very casual clothing.  Probably about 3/4 of the people were wearing gym shoes (tugboats, as I call them).  Just because you are going to a theme park, does not mean you have to dress like you are going to work out.  It's just kind of boring to look at.  It would be nice to see some people in normal clothing at least, if they aren't going to dress up a bit.  I wore this floral, cropped top and high-waisted shorts.   I found it to be the perfect outfit for a theme park.  It's just casual enough that I don't have to worry about any clothing malfunctions.  Also, it was a bit chilly.  You can roll the sleeves down if it gets cold.  Sorry about the fuzzy pics.  I didn't want to use my good camera in the park.

Skirt: Elle
Top: Decree
Shoes: Modcloth

I was recently going through my drawers and found this skirt that I have had for a few years.  I love when I forget that I have something, then find it later.  It almost feels new.  I got it when the scallop trend was just beginning to come back into style.  It was only around $5.  One thing that I am skilled at is finding really good deals.  I think it helps that I'm super short and can wear the smallest sizes that normal sized people can't.  I'm not a clearance snob, though.  There isn't anything wrong with shopping the clearance racks in stores.  I know some people turn their noses up at it, but sometimes you can find amazing things for really cheap.  I also got this top on sale and it was around $3!  I am in love with the floral design.  It reminds me of an old painting.

Top and Shorts: H&M
Sandals: Modcloth
Purse: ASOS

I went to the zoo this weekend.  I haven't been in a while, it was a good time.  I wore this outfit.  It's perfect for doing a lot of walking.  The shorts are very thin and not too hot.  I picked them up at H&M when I was in New York City.  They are my favorite shorts of the summer.  I got this top at the H&M in Chicago a few weeks ago.  I love it just as much.  The rhinestones are super sparkly, which is awesome because I love sparkly things. It's also exceedingly comfortable.  The shoes are new.  Modcloth has amazing sandals! I ordered these a bit ago.  When I first ordered them I couldn't decide which ones to get because there are so many cute sandals.  I will definitely be shopping at Modcloth for shoes in the future.
