When I was researching and planning this trip a place that I came across was Solvang Danish Village.  I knew after looking at pictures that it wasn't something I couldn't miss.  It's such a cute village. It seriously feels like you are in Europe.  Every single building has this same colorful European style.  There are a ton of shops, bakeries, restaurants, and breweries.  It ended up raining the day we were there, which was kind of annoying.  I'm just glad I remembered to pack my umbrella.  This umbrella is not for sale where I bought it but HERE is my post about when I got it.

Last Minute San Francisco Visit

We drove through Big Sur much quicker then we thought we would, so we decided to head up to San Francisco for a few hours.  My boyfriend had never been there and really wanted to check it out.  I wasn't going to turn down another chance to visit one of my favorite cities.  When we made plans to visit California, San Francisco wasn't part of out itinerary.  I was just there in June, you can check out my post from that HERE!  Since we only had a few hours, we had a bit of a hard time deciding what to do.  We chose to do some less touristy things because they would be crowded and take up too much time.  We immediately went to the Golden Gate Bridge.  I thought that was mandatory because it's so iconic.  Second, we went to Twin Peaks.  That was amazing.  Somehow, with all of the times I have been to San Francisco I had never even heard of it.  Twin Peaks is just two really high hills that are a great look-out over the city.  We went to a Thai restaurant for dinner and did a bit of walking around, before heading all the way back to our hotel in Morro Bay.

Sorry, I look a little frizzy and wind-blown in some of these pictures.  This post is more about the location than my outfit.  The part of this trip I was most excited about was going back to Big Sur.  When I was in High School I visited it with my family and it was just such a memorable place.  There are so many pretty spots to check out.  We stopped at McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. It's a very popular waterfall in a cove.  I can't remember if I went there when I was younger, so it was new to me.  The water is just so blue and beautiful.  Many of the spots we stopped were really similar to what I saw on my trip to California last summer, but some were much higher.  Driving on Highway 1 is pretty scary up there but if you are an experienced driver, it's not something you would want to miss.

Some of the cities and beaches we stopped at are Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, and Malibu.  I love all of them.  Santa Barbara has an especially awesome little town.  There are a bunch of cool shops and a really awesome coastline.  We went for a really far walk on the beach while the sun was setting.  In Santa Monica, we got lunch from an Italian grocery store and deli and ate it at this park on top of the cliff.  It was honestly the perfect lunch spot because it was really high up and overlooking the ocean.  I wish we could have stayed longer at all of them but we only had a few hours at each spot.  The weather was also a bit chilly, so it made leaving a little less painful.  I bought this top from H&M in California.  I didn't pack enough warm clothes.  It is really comfortable and casual.  I love the star print too.
