Yesterday I turned 29, on the 29th of October.  That obviously means it was my golden birthday.  For some reason I was always excited about this day.  Ever since I was around 8, I have been looking forward to this birthday.  I don't really know why.  I know it doesn't really mean much.  I think I just envisioned having a big party where everything was gold.  Birthdays have always just been a big deal to me.  I take them pretty seriously.  I bought a new gold sequin top to wear, but I didn't end up wearing it because it was too cold.  I wanted to pair it with my gold purse and "birthday girl" headband from two years ago.  I made myself this cake too.
In the morning I went with my mom, two aunts, and grandma to celebrate my b-day and engagement.  We went to an antique market.  Then, I went with my fiancé and sister to Chicago.  We walked around Millennium Park because I want to try out my new camera.  Then we did some shopping.  We also went out to eat at my favorite Thai restaurant.  After we got home I watched some of Stranger Things season 2.  Overall, it was a really fun birthday.

Notre Dame

Out of everywhere in Paris, this area is my favorite.  I just love the shore by the River Seine because the streets are cobblestone and there are so many pretty buildings around.  Also, the area is just a lot cleaner than other areas in Paris.  That is something that I wasn't expecting.  Parts of Paris are very dirty.  I know that is bound to happen because it is a major city but people don't really ever talk about how Paris is dirty, therefore you don't really expect it.  Notre Dame itself is an incredible building.  There is so much detail carved into the stone.  It was just so surreal standing next to it, looking up at the gargoyles.

Zaful Embroidered Sweaters

Embroidery is literally one of my favorite outfit details.  It's hard for me to pass up something with embroidery, especially sweaters.  These are all from Zaful.  Like I said in my other posts about sweaters, I always try to find more interesting and unique ones.  I feel like the embroidery adds an interesting element that makes it feel more cozy.  It gives it a bit of a homemade, or exotic feel (depending on the type of embroidery).  The first and last are my favorites.  The last one kind of looks like a granny sweater but I think it's so cute.  It's kind of granny chic, haha.

The Louvre

This day in paris we went to the Louvre.  Honestly, I wanted to go to see the building itself, more than the art inside.  It's so enormous and incredible.  The architect that designed the pyramids also designed the art museum at the college that I went to (Indiana University).  It was just kind of surreal to see everything in real life, including the Mona Lisa.  We made sure to be there right at opening because we wanted to get to the Mona Lisa before it got too crowded and take pictures outside.  If you want to see it up close, you have to get there at opening and go straight there.  You can tell in my pictures just how crowded the room got about an hour after opening.  The picture with me next to the painting was taken right when we got there and the picture with all of the people was taken when we went back into that room later.  We didn't see everything at the Louvre because that is basically impossible.  It's the largest art museum in the world.  We did see quite a bit though.
