I've blogged about this skirt before but I wear it so often.  It's a really easy skirt to wear because it's so versatile.  I can't link it because it's no longer available but it should be easy to find a similar one anywhere.  I am wearing it with this cute orange twisted cropped top.  I bought it to wear on our anniversary.  It matches the color of the changing leaves perfectly.  Once again, I am wearing way to many things from H&M but they always have good sales.  Do you guys have a denim skirt? If so, do you wear it often?

We are always on the lookout for new little parks and hiking spots.  We came across this little area in Seal Beach.  Although it's tiny, it's pretty private and the trees are really cool.  I wore this little cropped top and some jean shorts because it was super hot out.  I found this cute top in the sale section at Forever 21.  I just love the floral embroidery and lace trim.  It's so cute.  I paired it with my white sunglasses and these cute pearl clips.  It took me a while to find the perfect pack of pearl clips.  I have been loving the trend for so long but couldn't find the perfect one.  These are from H&M.

My Wedding Dress + Accessories

11:59:00 AM Andrea Ryan 2 Comments

SHOES: Asos  |  EARRINGS: T.J. Maxx  |  HAIR CLIP: Amazon  |  TEMPORARY WEDDING BAND: Local Eclectic  |  BRACELET: Etsy (wouldn't recommend)
I never got a chance to share what I wore for our wedding.  I just wanted to do a little post that was specifically about my dress and accessories.  If you never saw photos from our ceremony or reception, check those out.  It took me a while to decide what to wear but I immediately knew the style I wanted to go for.  Every aspect felt very "me."
As you may know, I made my dress myself.  I couldn't find one that was perfect and affordable.  Also, since I studied fashion design, I felt like it was appropriate.  I always wanted a dress by an amazing designer but since they are too expensive, designing it myself seemed like the second best option.  I wanted something less traditional.  I wanted some color.  The tulle underneath the dotted mesh is a light pink/lilac color.  It's just a hint and you can really only tell in certain lighting.  I also have some colorful flowers and rhinestones on the bodice.  I knew I wanted some sort of 3-D flowers because I love flowers.
As for my accessories, I didn't want to over-accessorize.  I didn't wear a necklace because my bodice is so busy.  I really wanted a rose gold hair piece and I found the perfect one on Amazon.  The earrings are pretty much exactly what I was looking for as well.  I wanted all rose gold accessories.  I had the bracelet made on Etsy but it tarnished almost immediately.  I don't recommend that Etsy shop.    I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty annoyed about it.  I bought this wedding band from Local Eclectic.  it's not the one that goes with my engagement ring but it fits really well.  I plan on getting the one that goes with my ring soon, weddings are just expensive.

Fashionable Tips to Help the Environment

9:50:00 PM Andrea Ryan 0 Comments

1.  Wash your clothes in cold water and only when you really need to.  Most of the energy used to wash clothes is used to heat up the water.  It saves energy to wash in cold.

2.  Shop for used clothing first.  Good spots to check out are local thrift stores, Poshmark, Depop, Plato's Closet, Buffalo Exchange, Thredup, Ebay, and yard sales.

3.  Choose well, and buy less.  Find your personal style and try to stick to that instead of only following trends.  This will lead to a wardrobe full of items that you love and want to hold onto, rather than constantly clearing things out.

4.  Mend torn or damaged clothing instead of buying new ones.  I feel like everybody should know basic alteration skills like sewing on a button or hand sewing to fix a hole.  You can always take something to a seamstress or enlist your grandma or a friend.

5.  Buy items that are made from natural fibers and aim for organic.  Try to shop brands that are more sustainable.  If you can't afford them, you can always buy used, shop stores like Nordstrom Rack, clearance, or T.J. Maxx.

6.  Dispose of old clothes properly.  Some thrift stores will accept clothes that are in bad condition and they will dispose of them properly.  Otherwise, you should look for a clothing recycling place.  Stores like H&M, The North Face, and Levi Strauss & Co. will recycle clothing.

7.  Upcycle things when you get tired of them.  If you are able to reuse an item by finding another way to use it, that is good.  Sometimes all you need to do is switch out some buttons, sew on some patches, crop it, or chop off the legs (for shorts).  You can also turn old items into rags or blankets for pets.

8.  Try to buy items made in your own country because that elimiminates the need for them to travel long distances.

9.   Unsubscribe to catalogs or flyers for stores that you don't shop at.

10.  Shop clearance.  Shopping clearance makes use of the items that nobody wants.  They have already been produced and if nobody buys them, chances are that they may never be worn.  Some companies burn all of their unsold items.  A lot of them will get donated, but many of them are never used.

Yellow Stripes

Although this outfit is super basic, I really like it.  It's cute and comfy.  Ever since moving to California, I have been more into t-shirts.  I don't know what's wrong with me.  T-shirts are so boring.  I feel like that laid back California style is rubbing off on me.  I really want to make more of an effort to stop wearing them so much.  I did manage to dress this outfit up a bit with the sandals, necklace, belt, and bag.  I feel like they are what prevents this outfit from being entirely boring.  Also, I've been buying way too much from H&M lately.  I need to shop more at other stores.

New Home Decor: Part 3

9:40:00 AM Andrea Ryan 1 Comments

Plant Pot: Goodwill (from Target originally) & Teapot: Disneyland
Coasters: Anthropologie (gift)
Sugar Dish: Anthropologie (gift)
 Sign: Walmart
 Spoon Rest: Anthropologie (gift)
Salt and Petter Shakers: Anthropologie (gift)
 Candle: Gift
 Diamond Planter: T.J. Maxx
Prints and Frames: Ikea
I haven't shared my new home decor in a while so I decided to do a part 3 to the two other posts I have made.  I've had some of this stuff for a while and other things I got more recently or for our wedding.  I have linked everything that is still available but some items may be in store.  All of the items from Anthropologie were on our wedding registry.  I love everything from Anthropologie and the style fits really well with our apartment decor.  It's one of my favorite stores for sure.  The first plant pot came from Goodwill.  We just stopped by a Goodwill and wanted to see what they had and I only found this for $1.  I got the teapot when we decided to go to Downtown Disney and had to pay $20 for parking.  You could get your parking validated if you bought something so I got this amazing teapot.  I feel like this is one of those things that I will always hold onto.  The wall sign that says "Bloom" is from Walmart.  I got it last spring as a seasonal decor item.  I am planning on swapping it our for something more fall-esque.  The peach candle came from my sister when she came to visit.  I found this cute diamond shaped succulent planter at T.J. Maxx.  I love the way it looks iridescent.  The prints were on sale at Ikea, so I decided to get them.  I forgot how much they were.  The frames are also from Ikea.  I'd say our apartment is fully furnished at this point but I still like to buy new items from time to time.

I've been wanting to check out Chinatown in L.A. since moving here 1.5 years ago and we finally went today.  We spent a good part of the day exploring.  We started out at the Thien Hau Temple, just because we saw it from a distance and wanted to see what it was.  It's a super pretty building.  I live the dragon carvings on the pillars.  Then we went to get lunch at Ramen Champ.  This was my first time trying ramen (don't ask me how, just never got around to it) and it was so tasty.  I love this place because it is really affordable and has a bunch of vegan options, and a big menu in general.  It had amazing reviews, so that's why we chose it.  After eating we did a little shopping and went over to the central area.  There are so many beautifully colorful buildings.  They are all super intricate with lanterns hanging overhead.  There was just some sort of celebration when we went to there was rainbow confetti (biodegradable) everywhere, which made it even more magical.  Lastly, we stopped by Ju & Wei for rolled ice cream.  I had been wanting to try that too.  It's so fun to eat!  If you go to L.A. you can't miss Chinatown.
I decided to wear this floral dress with these bow sandals.  I got both of them on sale at H&M.  Although neither of them fit perfectly, I love how they look.  I just got the sandals a few days ago because I lost a pair of mine at the beach last weekend.  I dropped one at a surf competition and never found it.  I decided to wear my horn necklace with this dress because I think it goes well with the neckline.
